Forest Bathing

Andy and I left town after work yesterday, drove up the Spray,
found Upper Kananaskis Lake, walked eight km to the [half-way] Point around the lake, slept under the full moon, woke up when we did, drank coffee and tea made with lake water, finished the loop around the lake this morning, and were back in town by noon.
Ahhhhh. Just what the doctor ordered.
Walking into the wind yesterday, soaking up the evening sun, smelling that aphrodisiacal scent of juniper, spruce, and moss, dreaming beneath the moon, drinking the lake, and walking for two hours this morning before checking email--this is a recipe for delight.
All day I've felt, well, really, the best way to describe it is high!
And what I mean by that, is ridden hard and put back wet, relaxed, well oiled, in the moment and totally energized: nice...
Apparently there are cultures who have a name for this practice; they call it Forest Bathing. The Japanese say shinrin-yoku and the Koreans call it sanlimyok. Shinrin-yoku is known to make you feel better. You can read about the practice here, and how it works: http://www.shinrin-yoku.org/what-is-shinrin-yoku.html.
A few hours of it is good, a day is better, and when you get some nights involved, it becomes powerful.
Actually, it rocks. It rights what's wrong. It restores the balance. It makes it all good.
